"Anonymous is an Internet meme originating 2003 on the imageboard 4chan,
representing the concept of many online community users simultaneously existing
as an anarchic, digitized global brain."
Anonymous has also been known for being partly responsible
for WikiLeaks, an organization that strives to uncover or "leak"
seemingly important information that may not reach the public
due to the growing censorship found in mass media.
With this project, I wanted to keep the message simple with a chat box,
further emphasizing that Anonymous is purely an Internet based culture.
This group is often symbolized by a headless tux and the Guy Fawkes mask.
Ebay.com has also used thesymbol of the tux to represent internet fraud.
The mask was based on the actual Guy Fawkes who was part of a Catholic
group during the 1600's who plotted against the King of England's choice for
Protestant rule. Guy Fawkes attempted to murder the King and was later
caught, tried, and then executed. His legacy was brought to life in the movie
"V For Vendetta" which also made the Guy Fawkes masks more popular.
